What is EAL?

Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) is a powerful and effective approach in which horses are used for emotional growth and learning. EAL is a collaborative effort between a licensed therapist and a horse specialist.

EAL is experiential in nature. This means that participants learn about themselves and others by participating in activities with horses followed by a discussion of feelings, behaviors, and patterns.

EAL has an incredible impact on individuals, youth, families and groups. Among the issues addressed are emotional and behavioral problems, anger, stress, self-confidence, communication skills, and relationship difficulties.

What EAL is NOT.

Equine Assisted Learning is not about horsemanship or horse training. In fact, horses are not ridden during the activities.

The focus is on structured activities on the ground between horses and humans.
